What inspired Nava + Arosio in designing the Dali Pendant for Italamp?

Those who are familiar with the art and design world, may recognize the name Dali, Spanish surrealist artist Salvador Dali; who’s paintings have left a tremendous mark on art history and teachings in painting. The two designers, Palo and Luca, drew their inspiration from the from the famous painting The Persistence of Memory 1931. When “delineating the sinuous lines of the thermoformed glass lamps, they aimed to “soften” the glass. Inspired by the the famous clocks in the painting, overlapping layers, giving the lamp the “ethereal lightness of a veil”. The Dali has LED light has sources inserted within the metal support of the lamp, curved like a necklace. The lamp is available in green, amethyst, blue, and grey. The designers made this lamp with the intention of changing the nature of familiar objects, whilst still allowing their functionality.
